Mental Health Treatment
Anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues are profoundly lonely afflictions. We understand what you’re going through. We help clients like you, every day, to find a better way of life. The broad range of mental health illnesses, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and others are rarely self-correcting. In struggling to find relief, those suffering from mental health issues frequently turn to self-medication. Alcohol abuse, drug addiction, and other compulsive behaviors become a painful added conflict.
If you’ve found that your mental health issues are beyond your control, please accept help. We understand your reluctance. However, in our vast experience as a treatment center, help is typically needed. We staff clinical and medical professionals who understand the origin of your suffering. We also staff world-class alcohol abuse and drug addiction experts and administer real-world, effective treatment solutions.
To comfort you during your healing, we offer discreet, luxurious accommodations. For your added convenience, private quarters are available. Our exquisite residential properties are located in Malibu’s most prestigious beachfront community, with views of the Pacific Ocean, a beautiful place to find peace and begin your recovery. During your stay, you can also look forward to gourmet cuisine prepared daily by our on-staff chefs.
Yes, you are safe here. Our commitment to privacy is unwavering. In the spirit of compassion, professional ethics, and in accordance with HIPAA privacy protections, your recovery time here is known only to those that you wish to include in your inner circle.
Why is this the perfect time for you to accept help? Because you’re here, already looking for answers and a solution. Where accepting help once seemed a humbling idea, the promise of relief that professional treatment may offer carries more importance. Yes, we are offering you a path to relief.
Diagnostic Assessment (DA)
Upon completion of detox and stabilization, each client undergoes a thorough Diagnostic Assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to determine a complete set of precise diagnoses for all of your medical, psychiatric, clinical, and behavioral issues that have contributed to your admission for treatment. The assessment team, led by our Clinical Director includes:
- Internal Medicine / Addictionologist – conducts an initial physical, gathers your medical history, and oversees your detox and stabilization.
- Psychiatrist – conducts a psychiatric evaluation, reviews your medication history, and compiles your psychiatric history to determine brain health and function. When indicated, the psychiatrist will also prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications during your stay in treatment.
- Other Specialists (as indicated) – During the course of the evaluation other medical, psychiatric, and clinical issues may become apparent. In these cases, additional specialists may be consulted, and neuro-psych testing may be recommended.
Upon completion of the DA, the Clinical Director determines the appropriate treatment team members for you and works with them to develop an individualized treatment plan.

Individualized Mental Health Treatment Plans
At The Pointe Malibu Recovery Center, we believe that you bring a unique life experience, the pattern of substance use, mental health issues, process addictions, and treatment history with you when you admit for treatment. It is essential that the full array of your underlying issues be factored into your diagnosis to achieve a successful treatment outcome. To accomplish that, we develop a highly customized treatment plan that addresses all of your issues and successfully assists you in achieving your recovery goals
Our approach to providing care is a psychodynamic one. Psychodynamic therapy interprets mental and emotional processes, relating to object relations, ego psychology, and self-exploration. The focus is on recognizing and understanding your repressed emotions and ultimately overcoming negative feelings, to improve your interpersonal relationships.
Though group therapy sessions are an important component of our Concierge Program, given the underlying trauma most clients have experienced prior to treatment, we believe in emphasizing, to a greater degree, individual therapy. Our individual sessions allow more privacy and intimacy, which often create a more conducive setting for sharing with your therapist and making treatment inroads. You will see your individual therapists (primary, family, or specialty therapists), as well as your case managers numerous times each week. Licensed therapists are available seven days a week at the facility, to talk with you about any issues that might surface. We arrange scheduling that enables you to go to a private health club daily, take in outdoor therapy sessions on the beach, and pursue your personal grooming and shopping needs.
Evidence-based treatment modalities include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Family Therapy
- Executive Coaching
- Experiential Components
- Surf / Water Therapies
- Art & Music Therapy
- Nutritional Counseling
Thorough continuing care planning and execution are essential if mental health clients such as yourself want to achieve successful treatment outcomes. For that reason we begin continuing care planning immediately following your admission, to ensure that a comprehensive continuing care plan is in place prior to discharge.
